17. Herein is our Love made perfect, that we may have Boldnels in the Day of Judgment: because as he is, fo are we in this World.

18. There is no Fear in Love; but perfect Love cafteth out Fear: because Fear hath Torment: He that feareth, is not made perfect in Love.

3. For this is the Love of God, that we keep his COMMANDMENTS, and his Commandments are not GRIEVOUS.

4. For whatsoever is born of God, OVERCOMETH the World: and this is the VICTORY that overcometh the World, even our FAITH.

Ephef. v. 25. Chrift LOVED the Church, and gave himself for it: 26. That he might SANCTIFY and CLEANSE it with the Washing of Water by the WORD,

27. That he might prefent it to himself a glorious Church, not having SPOT or WRINKLE, or any fuch Thing; but that it fhould be HOLY, and without Blemish.

Palm xxxvi. 7. How excellent is thy LOVING KINDNESS, O God! therefore the Children of Men put their TRUST under the Shadow of thy Wings.

9. For with thee is the Fountain of LIFE: and in thy LIGHT fhall we fee LIGHT.

Pf. lxiii. 1. O God, thou art my God, early will I SEEK thee: my Soul thirfteth for thee, my Flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty Land, where no Water is:

2. To fee thy Power and thy Glory, fo as I have feen thee in the Sanctuary.

3. Because thy LOVING KINDNESS is better than LIFE: my Lips fhall PRAISE thee.

Pf. 1xxiii. 25. Whom have I in Heaven but thee? and there is none upon Earth that I DESIRE befides thee.

of

26. My Flesh and my Heart faileth but GOD is the Strength my Heart, and my PORTION for ever.

27. For lo, they that are far from thee fhall PERISH:

Cant. iii. 1. By Night on my Bed I fought him whom my SOUL LOVETH: I fought him, but found him not.

2. I will rife now, and go about the City, in the Streets and in the Broad-ways I will feek him whom my Soul LOVETH.

Chap. viii. 6. Set me as a SEAL upon thine Heart, as a Seal upon thine Arm: For Love is STRONG as Death, Jealousy is cruel as the Grave: the Coals thereof are Coals of Fire, which hath a moft vehement Flame.

7. Many Waters cannot QUENCH LOVE; neither can the Floods drown it: If a Man would give all the Subftance of his House for LOVE, it would utterly be contemned.

Ifai. xxvi. 9. With my Soul have I defired thee in the Night, yea, with my SPIRIT within me will I SEEK thee early.

Rev. i. 5. Jefus Chrift, who is the faithful Witness, and the Firft-begotten of the Dead, and the PRINCE of the Kings of the Earth unto him that LOVED us, and WASHED us from our SINS in his own BLOOD,

Matt. xiv. 1. Mark vi. 14. Luke ix. 7.

[Mr.] AND [M] at that Time, King Herod the Tetrarch [M] heard of the Fame of Jefus, and of all that was done by him, [Mr.] (for his Name was fpread abroad) and faid unto his Servants, This is John the Baptift, he is rifen from the Dead, and therefore MIGHTY WORKS do fhew forth themselves in him. Others faid that it was Elias. And others faid that it is a Prophet, or as one of the Prophets. But when Herod heard thereof, he faid, It is John whom I beheaded, he is rifen from the Dead. [L.] And he was perplexed, because that it was faid of fome that John was rifen from the Dead; and of fome, that Elias had appeared: and of others, that one of the old Prophets was rifen again. And Herod faid, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear fuch Things? And he DESIRED to SEE him.
