The High hills are a refuge for the wild goats, and the rocks for the conies, 19 He appointed the moon for seasons; the sun knoweth his going down. 20 Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth. 21 The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God. 22 The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens. 23 Man goeth forth unto his work, and to his labour until the evening. 24 O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all the earth is full of thy riches. 25 So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts. 26 There go the ships; there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein. 27 These wait all upon thee: that thou mayest give them their meat in due season. 28 That thou givest | them, they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.

29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust. 30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth. 31 The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works. 32 He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth; he toucheth the hills, and they smoke. 33 I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise unto my God while I have my being. My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord. 35 Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the Lord, O my soul. Praise

Lord.

PSALM CVII. God's Care of Men.

O GIVE thanks unto the Lord, for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. 9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. 10 Such as sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron; 11 Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High; 12 Therefore he brought down their heart with labour: they fell down, and there was none to help. 13 Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. 14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder. 23 They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; 24 These see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep. 25 For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. 26 They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths, their soul is melted because of trouble. 28 Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. 29 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. 30 Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven. 31 Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

PSALM CXXII. CXXIII. Joy in public Worship.

I WAS glad when they said unto me, Let us go in to the house of the Lord. 2 Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem. 3 Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together; 4

Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the Lord. 6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem they shall prosper that love thee. 7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces. 8 For my brethren and companion's sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee. 9 Because of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek thy good. Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens. 2 Behold, as

the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress: so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

PSALM CXXV. Safety in Religion.

THEY that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. 2 As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people, from henceforth even for ever! 3 For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous: lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity. 4 Do good, O Lord, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts. 5 As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the Lord shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.

PSALM CXXXI. CXXXIII. CXXXVII. Social and public Virtue.

LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. 2 Surely I have behaved and quieted myself as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.

3 Let Israel hope in the Lord from henceforth and for ever. 1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is, for brethren to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard, that went down to the skirts of his garments: 3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore. 1 By the rivers of Babylon there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. 2 We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof. For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song: and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. 4 How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land? 5 If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. 6 If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth: If I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy. 8 O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed: happy shall he be that rewardeth thee s thou hast served us.

PSALM CXXXIX. God's Omnipresence.

3

O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. 2 Thou knowest my down-sitting and mine up. rising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me: it is high, I cannot attain unto it. 7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. 9 If I take

the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me: even the night shall be light about me. 12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. 17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

PSALM CXLV. Praise for Saving Mercy.

I WILL extol thee, my God, O King: and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. 2 Every day will I bless thee: and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. 3 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised and his greatness is unsearchable. 4 One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. 8 The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. 9 The Lord is good to all and his tender mercies are over all his works. 10 All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord, and thy saints shall bless thee. 11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power. 15 The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. 16 Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. 17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy
