the People unto the Place of which I have spoken unto thee: Behold, mine Angel fhall go before thee: Nevertheless, in the Day when I vifit, I will vifit their Sin upon them. 35 And the LORD plagued the People, because they made the CALF which Aaron made. CHA P. XXXIII. 1 The LORD refufeth to go with the People. 9 The LORD talketh with Mofes. 12 Mofes defireth to fee the Glory of GOD. Ver. 1 ND the LORD faid unto Mofes, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the People which thou haft brought up out of the Land of Egypt, unto the Land which I fware unto Abraham, to Ifaac, and to Jacob, faying, Unto thy Seed I will give it : 2 And I will fend an ANGEL before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, &c. 3 Unto a Land flowing with Milk and Honey: for I WILL not GO UP in the midst of thee, for thou art a STIFFNECKED People left I confume thee in the Way. 4 And when the People heard these evil TIDINGS, they mourned and no Man did put on him his Ornaments. 5 For the LORD had faid unto Mofes, Say unto the Children of Ifrael, Ye are a STIFF-NECKED People: I will come up into the midst of thee in a Moment, and confume thee: therefore now put off thy Ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee. 6 And the Children of Ifrael ftript themselves of their Ornaments, by the Mount Horeb. 7 And Mofes took the Tabernacle, and pitched it without the Camp, afar off from the Camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the Congregation. And it came to pass, that every one which fought the LORD, went out unto the TABERNACLE of the Congregation, which was without the Camp. 8 And it came to pafs, when Mofes went out unto the Tabernacle, that all the People rofe up, and stood every Man at his Tent-door, and looked after Mofes, until he Was gone into the Tabernacle. 9 And it came to pafs, as Mofes entred into the TABERNACLE, the CLOUDY PILLAR defcended, and stood at the Door Door of the Tabernacle, and the LORD talked with Mofes. 10 And all the People faw the CLOUDY PILLAR stand at the Tabernacle Door: and all the People rofe up and worfhipped, every Man in his Tent-door. II And the LORD fpake unto Mofes FACE to FACE, as a Man fpeaketh unto his Friend. And he turned again into the Camp; but his Servant Joshua, the Son of Nun, a young Man, departed not out of the Tabernacle. 12 And MOSES faid unto the LORD, See, thou fayeft unto me, Bring up this People: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt SEND with me. Yet thou haft faid, I know thee by Name, and thou haft alfo found Grace in my Sight. 13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found GRACE in thy Sight, fhew me now thy WAY that I may KNOW thee, that I may find GRACE in thy Sight and confider that this Nation is thy People. 14 And he said, My PRESENCE fhall go with thee, and I will give thee REST. 15 And he faid unto him, If thy PRESENCE go not with me, carry us not up hence. 16 For wherein fhall it be known here, that I and thy People have found GRACE in thy Sight? Is it not in that thou goeft with us? So fhall we be feparated, I and thy People, from all the People that are upon the Face of the Earth. 17 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, I will do this Thing also that thou haft spoken: for thou haft found GRACE in my Sight, and I know thee by Name. 18. And he faid, I beseech thee, fhew me thy GLORY. 19 And he faid, I will make all my GOODNESS pafs before thee, and I will proclaim the NAME of the LORD before thee; and will be GRA ° Pfal. 1xiii. 1 O GOD, thou art my GOD, early will I feek thee: my Sout THIRSTETH for thee, my FLESH LONGETH for thee in a dry and thirsty Land, where no Water is: 2 To fee thy POWER, and thy GLORY, fo as I have seen thee in the SANCTUARY. 'A ND the LORD faid unto Mofes, Hew thee two Tables of Stone like unto the first and I will write upon thefe Tables the Words that were in the first TABLES which thou breakeft. 2 And be ready in the Morning, and come up in the Morning unto Mount Sinai, and prefent thyfelf there to me, in the Top of the Mount. 3 And no Man fhall come up with thee, neither let any Man be feen throughout all the Mount: neither let the Flocks nor Herds feed before that Mount. 4 And he hewed two Tables of Stone, like unto the firft; and Mofes rofe up early in the Morning, and went up unto Mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his Hand the two Tables of Stone. 5 And the LORD DESCENDED in the Cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the Name of the LORD. 6 And the LORD PASSED by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, the LORD GOD, MERCIFUL and GRACIOUS, long-fuffering, and abundant in GOODNESS and Truth. 79 KEEPING MERCY for 9 Pfal. 1xxxvi. 1s Thou O LORD, thoufands, forgiving INIQUI- art a GOD full of COMPASSION, and TY, and Tranfgreffion, and GRACIOUS: LONG-SUFFERING, and SIN, and that will by no means clear the GUILTY; PLENTEOUS in MERCY and TRUTH. I Have MERCY upon me, O GOD, according to thy LoVINGvifiting X visiting the Iniquity of the Fathers upon the Children, and upon the Childrens Children, unto the third and to the fourth Generation. 8 And Mofes made hafte, and bowed his Head toward the Earth, and worshipped. I 9 And he faid, If now I have found Grace in thy Sight, O LORD, let my LORD, pray thee, go amongst us (for it is a ftiff-necked People) and pardon our Iniquity and our Sin, and take us for thine Inheritance. 10 And he faid, Behold, I make a Covenant: before all thy People I will do Marvels, fuch as have not been done in all the Earth, nor in any Nation and all the People amongst which thou art, fhall fee the Work of the LORD for it is a terrible Thing that I will do with thee. KINDNESS: according unto the MULTITUDE of thy TENDER MERCIES blot out my Tranfgreffions. 2 Wash me throughly from mine INIQUITY, and cleanse me from my SIN. 1 John i. 8 If we say that we have no SIN, we deceive ourselves, and the Truth is not in us. 9 If we CONFESS our SINS, he is FAITHFUL and JUST to forgive us our Sins, and to cleanfe us from all Unrighteousness. 10 If we fay that we have not finned, we make him a Liar, and his Word is not in us. 1 John ii. If any Man fin, we have an ADVOCATE with the FATHER, JESUS CHRIST the RIGHTEOUS : 2 And he is the PROPITIATION for our SINS. II For as the Heaven is high above the Earth: fo great is his MERcy toward them that FEAR him. II Obferve thou that which I command thee this Day: Behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebufite. 12 Take heed to thyfelf, left thou make a Covenant with the Inhabitants of the Land whither thou goeft, left it be for a Snare in the midft of thee. 13 their Altars, break their Images, and cut down their Groves. But ye fhall destroy 3 And thinkeft thou this, O Man, thar judgeft them which do fuch Things, and doft the fame, that thou fhalt efcape the JUDGMENT of GOD? Or despiseft thou the RICHES of his GOODNESS, and FORBEARANCE, and LONG SUFFERING, not knowing that the GOODNESS of GOD leadeth thee to REPENTANCE. s But after thy HARDNESS and IMPENITENT HEART, treasureft up unto thyself WRATH against the Day of 13 For 14 For thou shalt worship no other God: for the LORD, whofe Name is JEALOUS, is a jealous GOD. 15 Left thou make a Co venant with the Inhabitants of the Land, and they go a whoring after their Gods, and do Sacrifice unto their Gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his Sacrifice, 16 And thou take of their Daughters unto thy Sons, and their Daughters go a whoring after their Gods, and make thy Sons go a whoring after their Gods.
