S Having FooD and RAIMENT, let us be therewith cONTENT. Heb. xiii. s Be CONTENT with fuch Things as ye have. 1 Tim. vi. 6 GODLINESS with CONTENTMENT is great GAIN. 7 For we brought NOTHING into this WORLD, and it is certain we can carTY NOTHING Out. 8 And having FooD and RAIMENT, let us be therewith CONTENT. 9 But they that will be RICH, fall into TEMPTATION and a SNARE, and into many foolish and hurtful LUSTS, which DROWN Men in Deftruction and PERDITION. 10 For the LOVE of MONEY is the Roor of all EVIL: which while some COVETED after, they have erred from the FAITH, and PIERCED themselves through with many SORROWS. Matth. vi. 20 Lay up for yourselves TREASURES in HEAVEN, where neither MOTH nor RUST doth corrupt, and where THIEVES do not break through nor fteal. 21 For where your TREASURE is, there will your Heart be also. 24 No Man can ferve Two MASTERS: for either he will hate the one, * See the Story of Joseph's being tempted by his Miftrefs, Gen. xxxix. 7. and the References thereto. and and love the other; or elfe he will hold to the one, and defpife the other Ye cannot SERVE GOD and MAMMON. 25 Therefore I fay unto you, Take no THOUGHT for your LIFE, what ye fhall EAT, or what ye fhall DRINK; nor yet for your BODY, what ye fhall put on Is not the Life more than Meat, and the Body than Raiment ? 26 Behold the FowLs of the Air: for they fow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into Barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much BETTER than they? 27 Which of you by TAKING THOUGHT can add one Cubit unto his Sta ture. If any Man LOVE the WORLD, the LOVE of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the WORLD, the LUST of the FLESH, and the LUST of the Eyes, and the PRIDE of LIFE, is not of the Father, but is of the World. 17 And the WORLD paffeth away, and the Luft thereof: but he that doth the WILL of GOD abideth for ever. Col. iii. 2 Set your AFFECTIONS on Things ABOVE, not on Things on the Earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your LIFE is hd with CHRIST in GOD. 4 When CHRIST who is OUR LIFE fhall APPEAR, then shall ye also appear with him in GLORY. 5 MORTIFY therefore your Members, which are upon the Earth; FORNI CATION, UNCLEANNESS, INORDINATE AFFECTION, EVIL CONCUPISCENCE, and COVETOUSNESS, which is IDOLATRY: 6 For which Things Sake, the WRATH of GOD cometh on the Children of DISOBEDIENCE. 7 In the which ye alfo walked fome Time, when ye LIVED in them. 8 But now you also put off all thefe ; ANGER, WRATH, MALICE, BLASPHEMY, FILTHY COMMUNICATION out of your Mouth. 9 LIE not one to another, feeing that ye have put off the OLD MAN with his DEEDS: 10 And have put on the NEW MAN, which is renewed in KNOWLEDGE, after the IMAGE of him that CREATED HIM. Rom. ii. 13 Not the HEARERS of the Law are just before God, but the DOERS of the LAW fhall be JUSTIFIED. 21 Thou therefore which TEACHEST another, teacheft thou not thyself? thou that preachcft a Man fhould not steal, doft thou STEAL? 22 Thou 22 Thou that fayeft a Man fhould not commit Adultery, doft thou COMMIT ADULTERY? thou that abhorreft IDOLS, doft thou commit SACRILEDGE? 23 Thou that makeft thy Boaft of the Law, through breaking the Law DISHONOUREST thou God? Gal. v. 16 This I fay unto you, WALK in the SPIRIT, and ye shall not fulfil the Luft of the Flesh. 17 For the FLESH lufteth against the SPIRIT, and the SPIRIT against the FLESH: and thefe are contrary the one to the other; fo that ye cannot do the Things that ye would. 18 But if ye be LED by the SPIRIT, ye are not under the LAW. 19 Now the WORKS of the FLESH are MANIFEST, which are thefe, ADULTERY, FORNICATION, UNCLEANNESS, LASCIVIOUSNESS, 20 IDOLATRY, WITCHCRAFT, HATRED, VARIANCE, EMULATION, WRATH, STRIFE, SEDITIONS. HERESIES. 21 ENVYINGS, MURDERS, DRUNKENNESS REVELLINGS, and fuch like: of the which I tell you before, as I have alfo told you in time paft, that they which Do fuch Things, fhall NOT INHERIT the KINGDOM of GOD. 22 But the FRUIT of the SPIRIT is LOVE, JOY, PEACE, LONG-SUFFERING, GENTLENESS, GOODNESS, FAITH, 23 MEEKNESS, TEMPERANCE: against such there is NO LAW. John i. 16 And, of his FULNESS have all we received, and GRACE for Grace. 17 For the Law was given by MOSES, but GRACE and TRUTH came by JESUS CHRIST. Matth. v. 18 Verily I fay unto you, Till HEAVEN and EARTH pass, one Jot or one Tittle fall in no wife pafs from the Law, till all be FUL FILLED 19 Whosoever therefore fhall BREAK one of these leaft COMMANDMENTS, and thall TEACH Men fo, he fhall be called the LEAST in in the KINGDOM Of HEAVEN but whofoever fhall Do, and TEACH them, the fame fhall be called GREAT in the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. Eccles, xii. 13 Let us hear the Conclufion of the whole Matter, FEAR GOD, and XEEP his COMMANDMENTS; for this is the WHOLE DUTY of MAN. 14 For GOD fhall bring EVERY WORK into JUDGMENT, with every SECRET THING, whether it be GooD, or whether it be EVIL. 6 He flood and MEASURED the EARTH: he beheld, and drove alunder the Nations, and the everlasting Mountains were fcattered, the per and |
