Ver. 1

AN

ND they took their Journey from Elim, and all the Congregation of the Children of Ifrael came unto the Wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth Day of the fecond Month, after their departing out of the Land of Egypt.

2 And the whole Congregation of the Children of Ifrael MURMURED against MOSES and Aaron in the Wilderness. 3 And the Children of Ifrael faid unto them, Would to GOD we had DIED by the Hand of the LORD in the Land of Egypt, when we fat by the Flesh-pots, and when we did eat bread to the Full: for ye have brought us forth into this Wilderness to KILL this whole Affembly with HUNGER.

4 Then faid the LORD unto Mofes, Behold, I will RAIN BREAD from HEAVEN for you; and the People shall go out and gather a certain Rate every Day, that I may PROVE them, whether they will WALK in my LAW, or NO.

5 And it fhall come to pafs, that on the fixth Day, they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it fhall be twice as much as they gather daily.

6 And MOSES and Aaron faid unto all the Children of Ifrael, At Even, then ye fhall know that the LORD hath brought you out from the Land of Egypt.

7 And in the Morning, then ye fhall fee the GLORY of the LORD; for that he heareth your MURMURINGS against the LORD, and WHAT ARE we, that ye murmur against us.

8 And Mofes faid, This fhall be when the LORD fhall give you in the Evening Flesh to eat, and in the Morning Bread to the Full; for that the LORD heareth your Murmurings which ye murmur against him: And what are we? your MURMURINGS are not against Us, but AGAINST thẻ LORD.

9 And Mofes fpake unto Aaron, Say unto all the Congregation of the Children of Ifrael, Come near before the LORD; for he hath heard your Murmurings,

10 And it came to pafs as Aaron fpake unto the whole Congregation of the Children of Ifrael, that they looked toward the Wilderness, and behold, the GLORY of the LORD APPEARED in the CLOUD.

II And the LORD fpake unto MOSES, faying,

12 I have heard the MURMRINGS of the Children of Ifrael; fpeak unto them, faying, At Even ye fhall eat Flesh, and in the Morning ye fhall be filled with Bread and ye fhall know that I am the LORD your God.

13 And it came to pass, that at Even the Quails came up, and covered the Camp: and in the Morning the DEW lay round about the Hoft.

f

John vi. 30 They faid unto him,

we may fee, and believe thee? what thou doft work?

14 f And when the Dew that lay was gone up, behold, What Sign fheweft thou then, that upon the Face of the Wildernefs there lay a small round Thing, as small as the Hoar Froft on the Ground.

15 And when the Children of Ifracl faw it, they faid one to another, It is MANNA; for they wift not what it was. And Mofes faid unto them, This is the BREAD which the LORD hath given you to

eat.

31 Our Fathers did eat MANNA in the Delart; as it is written, He gave

them Bread from HEAVEN to eat.

32 Then JESUS faid unto them, Verily verily I fay unto you, MOSES gave you not that BREAD from HEAVEN; but my FATHER giveth you the TRUE BREAD from HEAVEN.

33 For the BREAD of GOD is HE which cometh down from HEAVEN,

and giveth LIFE unto the World.

35 I AM the BREAD of LIFE: he that COMETH to me, fhall never нUNGER; and he that BELIEVETH on me fhall never THIRST.

37 All that the FATHER giveth me, fhall COME to me; and him that comETH TO ME, I will in no wife CAST OUT. 38 For I came down from Heaven,

WILL of him that fent me.

16 This is the Thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every Man according to his Eat- not to do my own WILL, but the ing an Omer for every Man, according to the Number of your Perfons, take ye every Man for them which arc in his Tents.

17 And the Children of Ifrael did fo, and gathered, fome more, fome lefs.

39 And this is the FATHER'S WILL which hath fent me, that of all lote nothing, but fhould RAISE it up which he hath given me, I should

at the laft Day.

48 I am that BREAD of LIFE. 49 Your Fathers did eat MANNA in the Wilderness, and are DEAD

so This is the BREAD which cometh down from HEAVEN, that a Man

may EAT thereof and not DIE.

18 And when they did mete it with an Omer, he that gathered much, had nothing over; and he that gathered little, had no Lack: they gathered every Man according to his Eating.

19 And Mofes faid, Let no Man leave of it till the Morning.

20 Not

20 Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Mofes, but fome of them left of it until the Morning, and it bred Worms and stank : And Mofes was wroth with them.

21 Ani they gathered it every Morning, every Man according to his Eating: and when the Sun waxed hot, it melted.

22 And it came to pafs, that on the fixth Day, they gathered twice as much Bread, two Omers for one Man : and all the Rulers of the Congregation came and told Mofes.

23 And he faid unto them, This is that which the LORD hath faid, To-morrow is the Reft of the holy Sabbath unto the LORD bake that which ye will bake To-day, and feethe that ye will feethe; and that which remaineth over, lay up for you to be kept until the Morning.

24 And they laid it up till the Morning, as Mofes bad: and it did not stink, neither was there any Worm therein. 25 And Mofes faid, Eat that To-day; for To-day is a Sabbath unto the LORD: To-day ye fhall NOT FIND it in the Field.

26 Six Days fhall ye gather it, but on the SEVENTH Day which is the Sabbath, in it there fhall be NONE.

27 And it came to pass, that there went out fome of the People on the feventh Day for to gather, and they found

none.

28 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, How long refufe ye to keep my Commandments and my Laws?

29 See, for that the LORD hath given you the SABBATH, therefore he giveth you on the SIXTH Day the Bread of two Days: abide ye every Man in his Place, let no Man go out of his Place on the feventh Day.

30 So the People reted on the feventh Day.

31 And the House of Ifrael called the Name thereof *MANNA and it was like Coriander-feed, white; and the Tafte of it was like Wafers made with Honey.

32 And Mofes faid, This is the Thing which the LORD commanded, Fill an Omer of it to be kept for your GENERATIONS; that they may fee the BREAD wherewith I have FED you in the Wildernefs, when I brought you forth from the Land of Egypt.

*Note, MANNA fignifies a Daily Allowance given by GOD to the Ifraelites without any Labour or Industry of theirs.

33 And Mofes faid unto Aaron, Take a Pot, and put an Omer full of MANNA therein, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for your Generations.

34 As the LORD commanded Mofes, fo Aaron laid it up before the Teftimony, to be kept.

35 And the Children of Ifrael did eat MANNA FORTY Years, until they came to a Land inhabited: they did ea Manpa, until they came unto the Borders of the Land of Canaan.

1 The People murmur for Water at Rephidim. 5 Mofes fent to the Rock in Horeb. 8 Amalek is overcome.

Ver. 1 AND all the Congregation of the Children of Ifrael journeyed from the Wilderness of Sin, after their Journeys, according to the Commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no WATER for the People to drink.

2 Wherefore the People did chide with Mofes, and faid, Give us Water that we may drink. And Mofes faid unto them, Why chide you with me? Wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?

3 And the People thirfted there for Water; and the Peaple † MURMURED against Mofes, and faid, Wherefore is this that thou haft brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our Children, and our Cattle with Thirit?

4 And Mofes cried unto the LORD, faying, What shall I do unto this People? they be almost ready to stone me.

5 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Go on before the People, and take with thee of the Elders of Ifrael and thy ROD wherewith thou fmotest the River, take in thine Hand,

and go.

6 g Behold, I will, ftand before thee there upon the Rock in Horeb, and thou fhalt fmite the Rock, and there fhall come WATER Out of it, that the People may drink. And Mofes did fo in

James v. 16 The EFFECTUAL FERVENT PRAYER of a righteous Man availeth much.

12 But MOSES's Hands were heavy, and they took a Stone and put it under him, and he fat thereon and Aaron and Hur ftayed up his Hands, the one on the one Side, and the other on the other Side; and his Hands were fteady until the going down of the Sun.

13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his People with the Edge of the Sword.

14 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Write this for a Memorial in a Book, and rehearse it in the Ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the Remembrance of Amalek from under Heaven.

15 And Mofes built an Altar, and called the Name of it JEHOVAH-nifi.
