DEDICATION.

TO THE NATURAL GUARDIANS OF THE PEOPLE.

THIS humble offering is mainly vindicatory, appealing to the mass of every growth, nor wholly national, and with a fair prospect (desire) to please. The first (not an ordinary) satisfaction, was a rude endeavor to fasten, within the minds of the indifferent, one mighty, eternal principle -that CHRIST is the real and entire fountain-head of what is understood by the name of "LIBERTY," the large Foster-father of the human will, as it is supported and impelled by a responsible SOUL. The rich and noble are Christ's active vicegerents. Cherish the industrious poor, and they are social; fed and clothed as Christians should be, temperate; taught and watched through the path of righteousness,―happy.

April 30, 1832.
