great branch of duty which comes under "the general title of DEVOTION. Let me

But I beg leave to refer the reader to the whole of Bishop Horfley's Charge, delivered to the clergy of his diocese of St. David's, at his primary visitation. There are some things in it expreffed rather more ftrongly, particularly where the names of individuals are mentioned, than, perhaps, a cooler temper might have approved; but the divinity is, I think, found; and opinions fupported by learning and vigour of intellect like thofe of

this zealous defender of the church, must have great authority.

And now, let me be permitted to repeat, that my humble attempts were not meant to open or to continue the war of words, which has done injury to Chriftianity in all ages, and disturbed the tranquillity of the fiery difputants engaged; but to contribute my mite towards affording the confolations of religion to miferable mortals laden with fins, and groaning with infirmities, and travelling rapidly to that country where all fects of Chriftians, however angry with each other here, must hope to meet in joy and love.
