who have injured us-to labour to do good to all, and to bear one another's burdens.

They sin against these precepts: Who wilfully take away human life, either others' or their own; who, in their heart, desire the death of others; who are accessory to murder; who fight duels, or encourage them; who do hurt or violence to any one; who sow strife and contention; who give way to passion; who indulge revenge in their hearts, or wish or speak evil of their brethren.

"O LORD, I confess myself guilty of innumerable transgressions of this holy commandment; pardon me, I beseech Thee, for Jesus Christ's sake; and let the grace of the Holy Spirit so prevent and follow me for the time to come, that I may never more be guilty of the like offences; but may henceforth strive to avoid every sin forbidden, and to practise every duty enjoined by this most righteous law."

THE SEVENTH COMMANDMENT.

"Thou shalt not commit adultery."

THE duties enjoined are: To respect the marriage vow, to abstain from all pollution, and to keep our bodies in temperance, soberness, and chastity; to check all unclean thoughts, to avoid all wantonness of behaviour, to reject everything that excites or inflames our passions, to avoid all filthy words and unclean conversation.

They sin against these precepts: Who indulge their lusts, and who defile the body by adultery, fornication, or any other uncleanness; who allow their thoughts to dwell on unclean subjects; who delight in lewd and wanton company, in filthy and unchaste songs, and in disgusting conversation, who presume to do anything beyond the bounds of modesty and shamefacedness.

"O LORD, I confess myself guilty of innumerable transgressions of this holy commandment; pardon me, I beseech Thee, for Jesus Christ's sake; and let the grace of the Holy Spirit so prevent and follow me for the time to come, that I may never more be guilty of the like offences; but may henceforth strive to avoid every sin forbidden, and to practise every duty enjoined by this most righteous law."

THE EIGHTH COMMANDMENT.

"Thou shalt not steal."

THE duties enjoined are: To keep our hands from picking and stealing, to make restitution for any wrong done by us to any man's property, to be true and just, fair and honest in all our dealings.

They sin against these precepts: Who steal

either by force, or secretly; who assist others in stealing by receiving, buying, or concealing stolen goods; who cheat in buying or selling; who contract debts knowingly beyond their means; who injure their families by vice or extravagance; who seek for gain in any unlawful or injurious way.

"O LORD, I confess myself guilty of innumerable transgressions of this holy commandment; pardon me, I beseech Thee, for Jesus Christ's sake; and let the grace of the Holy Spirit so prevent and follow me for the time to come, that I may never more be guilty of the like offences, but may henceforth strive to avoid every sin forbidden, and to practise every duty enjoined by this most righteous law."

THE NINTH COMMANDMENT.

"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour."

THE duties enjoined are: Religiously to speak the truth in private, and as witnesses in public courts of justice; to abstain from harsh judgment of our neighbours; to preserve every man's good name, and to put the best construction on our neighbour's actions.

They sin against these precepts: Who falsely accuse any one; who bear false testimony; who are guilty of calumny, or of evil speaking; who are guilty of tale-bearing, rash speaking or censuring; who are ready to
