David prays in great distress.

PSALMS.

His confidence in God's grace.

2 O my God, I cry in the day-time, but they shall praise the LORD that seek him: thou hearest not; and in the night season, your heart shall live for ever. and am not silent.

PSALM XXIII. ¶ A Psalm of David. HE LORD is my shepherd; I shall not

PSALM XXV. TA Psalm of David. UNTO NTO thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. 2 O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

3 Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

4 Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.

8 LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth.

9 Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men:

10 In whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes.

11 But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful

unto me.

12 My foot standeth in an even place:

7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy in the congregations will I bless the LORD. mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O LORD.

PSALM XXVII.

A Psalm of David.

8 Good and upright is the LORD: there-HE LORD is my light and my salvafore will he teach sinners in the way.

9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will be teach his way.

10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

11 For thy name's sake, O LORD, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.

12 What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.

14 The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his

covenant.

15 Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.

is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

3 Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.

5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

16 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted. 6 And now shall my head be lifted up 17 The troubles of my heart are en-above mine enemies round about me: therelarged: Obring thou me out of my distresses. fore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices 18 Look upon mine affliction and my of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises pain; and forgive all my sins. unto the LORD.

19 Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred. 20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee. 8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; 21 Let integrity and uprightness pre-my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, serve me; for I wait on thee. will I seek.

22 Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

PSALM XXVI.
TA Psalm of David.
UDGE me, LORD; for I have walked

WILL extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

PSALM XXIX.
TA Psalm of David.

7 LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.

8 I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication.

9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?

10 Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.

11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my in-sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; 12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for PSALM XXXI.

N thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.

2 Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily be thou my strong rock, for a house of defence to save me.

3 For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.

4 Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.

5 Into thy hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

I have called upon thee; let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave. 18 Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

19 Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!

11 Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

PSALM XXXIII.

REJOICE in the LORD, O ye righteous:

for praise is comely for the upright. 2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.

3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.

4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.

5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of

10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.

11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all

2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

19 Many are the afflictions of the right

16 There is no king saved by the multitude of a host: a mighty man is not de-eous: but the LORD delivereth him out of livered by much strength.

17 A horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, PLEAD my cause, O LORD, with them

because we have trusted in his holy name. 22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

PSALM XXXIV.

A Psalm of David when he changed his behaviour before Abimelech; who drove him away, and he departed. I WILL bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.

15 But in mine adversity they rejoiced, 16 The face of the LORD is against them and gathered themselves together: yea, that do evil, to cut off the remembrance the abjects gathered themselves together of them from the earth. against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:

17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

17 LORD, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.
