CHAP. XIX.

2 Christ healeth the sick: 3 answereth the Pharisees concerning divorcement: 10 showeth when marriage is necessary: 13 receiveth little children: 16 instructeth the young man how to attain eternal life, 20 and how to be perfect: 23 telleth his disciples how hard it is for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God, and promiseth reward to those that forsake any thing to follow him.

A. D. 33. AND it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judea beyond1 Jordan. 2 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.

There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. 1 Cor. ix. 5, 15: Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas. But I have used none of these things. Neither have I written these things that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.
