PREFACE.

In the following Work the principal facts and doctrines of Revelation concerning the Creation of Man are adduced to illustrate the Origin and Constitution of Human Nature. Assuming the authenticity of the Old and New Testaments, they are here collated with each other on this important topic; and thence we deduce this general conclusion and corollary-that man was originally created after the image and likeness of the incarnate nature of the Son of God.

In working out this proposition, we build on the acknowledged, but neglected doctrine of the New Testament-" that God created all things by Jesus Christ." Viewing the Author of Christianity, therefore, in his Divine nature, as the immediate and personal Creator of Man, we infer, that, as "man was created in the image and likeness of God," he
