And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, a The Lord hath need of them; band straightway he will send them.

a But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee. For we are strangers before thee, and sojoumers, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding. O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee a house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own, 1 Chron. xxix. 14-16. The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein, Psal. xxiv. 1. For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine, l. 10, 11. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts. The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts, Hag. ii. 8, 9. The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand, John iii. 35. Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things, Acts xvii. 25. For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich,

Tell ye a the daughter of Zion, be hold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a coll the foal of an ass.

a That I may shew forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy salvation, Psal. ix. 14. Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee, Isa. xii. 6. O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God! xl. 9. Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him, Ixii. 11. Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, Ŏ daughter of Jerusalem. The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more, Zeph. iii. 14, 15.

And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,

And a brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.

a And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him. And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt? And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go. And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him. And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way, Mark xi. 4-8. And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them. And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt? And they said, The Lord hath need of him. And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon,

a And when the Chief Priests and Scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son Matt. xxi. 15. This is the day which of David; they were sore displeased, the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity. Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD, Psal. cxviii. 24—26. And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest, Mark xi. 9, 10.

a When Herod the king had heard these things he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him, Matt. ii. 3. So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when

they were come to Beth-lehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi? Ruth i. 19. Who is this that cometh out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, with all powders of the merchant, Cant. iii. 6. Who is this that cometh from Edom with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save, Isa. Ixiii. 1. And the Scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? a Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the LORD whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fuller's sope, Mal. iii. 1, 2. And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve, Mark xi. 11.

And they came to Jerusalem : and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of them that sold doves, Mark xi. 15. And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought; Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: Luke xix. 45, 46. And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thou turn it into money, and bind up thy God hath blessed thee: Then shalt the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LoRD thy God shall choose: And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou and thine household, Deut. xiv. 24-26.

Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever, Psal. xciii. 5. Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings, and their sacrifices, shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people, Isa. lvi. 7.

b Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD, Jer. vii. 11. And a the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.

a Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see : The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the Gospel preached to them, Matt. xi. 4, 5. See also on chap.

And said unto him, a Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

a And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out, Luke xix. 39, 40. Then gathered the Chief Priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do

we? for this man doeth many miracles. If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation, John xi. 47, 48.

a At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes, Matt. xi. 25. to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat, xii. 1. Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered, Luke iv. 2. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted, Heb. ii. 17, 18. For we have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin, iv. 15.

And he left them, and went out of the ἐπ' αὐτὴν, καὶ οὐδὲν εὗρεν ἐν αὐτῇ εἰ μὴ Καὶ ἰδὼν συκῆν μίαν ἐπὶ τῆς ὁδοῦ, ἦλθεν city into a Bethany; and he lodged there. * And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, σοῦ καρπὸς γένηται εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire, Luke iii. 9. He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard; Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto
