The ORDER for

MORNING PRAYER,

Daily throughout the Year.

¶ At the Beginning of Morning Prayer, the Minifter fhall read with a loud Voice fome one or more of thefe Sentences of the Scriptures that follow: And then he jhall fay that which is written after the faid Sentences.

To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him: neither have we obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in his laws which he fet before us, Dan. ix. 9, 10.

O Lord, correct me, but with judgement; not in thine anger, left thou bring me to nothing. Jer. x. 24. Pfal. vi. 1.

Repent ye; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. S. Matth. iii. 2.

I will arife, and go to my father, and will fay unto him, Father, I have finned againít heaven and before thee, and am no more worthy to be called thy fon. S. Luke xv. 18, 19.

Enter not into judgement with thy fervant, O Lord; for in thy fight fhall no man living be juftified. Pfal. cxliii. 2.

If we fay that we have no fin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us: But if we confess our fins, he is faithful and juft to forgive us our fins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousnefs. 1 S. John i. 8, 9.

Early beloved brethren, the Scripture moveth us, in fundry

wickednefs, and that we thould not diffemble nor cloke them before the face of Almighty God, our heavenly Father; but confefs them with an humble, lowly, penitent, and obedient heart; to the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy. And although we ought at all times humbly to acknowledge our fins before God, yet ought we most chiefly fo to do, when we affemble and meet together to render thanks for the great benefits that we have received at his hands, to fet forth his moft worthy praise, to hear his most holy Word, and to ask those things which are requifite and neceflary as well for the body as the foul. Wherefore I pray and beseech you, as many as are here prefent, to accompany me with a pure heart

turn from his wickedness, and live; and hath given power and commandment to his Minifters, to declare and pronounce to his people, being penitent, the Abfolution and Remiffion of their fins He pardoneth and abfolveth all them that truly repent, and unfeignedly believe his holy Gospel. Wherefore let us befeech him to grant us true repentance, and his Holy Spirit, that thofe things may pleafe him which we do at this prefent, and that the rest of our life hereafter may be pure and holy; fo that' at the laft we may come to his eternal joy, through Jefus Christ our Lord.

The People fall anfwer here, and at the End of all other Prayers, Amen.

¶Then the Minifter shall kneel, and fay the Lord's Prayer with an audible Voice; the People also kneeling, and repeating it with him, both here and wherefoever else it is used in Divine Ser

UR Father, which art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done in Earth, As it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. ¶Then shall be faid or fung this Pfalm following; except on Eafterday, upon which another Anthem is appointed: And on the Nineteenth Day of every Month it is not to be read here, but in the ordinary Courfe of the Palms.

Let us come before his prefence with thanksgiving: and shew ourselves glad in him with pfalms.

For the Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods.

In his hand are all the corners of the earth and the strength of the hills is his also.

The fea is his, and he made it and his hands prepared the dry land.

O come, let us worship, and fall down : and kneel before the Lord our Maker.

¶ Then shall follow the Pfalm, in order as they be appointed. And at the End of every Pfalm throughout the Year, and likewife at the End of Bencdicíte, Benedictus, Magnificat, and Nunc dimittis, ball be repeated,

Anf. As it was in the beginning, &c.

¶ Then fhall be read diftindly, with an audible Voice, the First Lesson, taken out of the Old Tefiament, as is appointed in the Calendar; (except there be Prefer Lefons affigned for that Day) be that readeth, fo ftanding, and turning himself, as he may best be beard of all fuch as are prefent. And after that shall be said or jung in English, the Hymn called Te Deum laudamus, daily throughout the year.

Note, that before every Lefon the Minifter shall say, Here beginneth fuch a Chapter, or Verfe of fuch a Chapter, of fuch a Book: And after every Leffon, Here endeth the Firit, or, the Second Leffon.

WE praife thee, O God: we acknowledge thee to be the

We believe that thou shalt come: to be our Judge. We therefore pray thee, help thy fervants: whom thou haft redeemed with thy precious blood.

Make them to be numbered with thy Saints: inGlory everlasting. O Lord, fave thy people and bless thine heritage.

Govern them and lift them up for ever.

Through the tender mercy of our God: whereby the Dayfpring from on high hath vifited us;

To give light to them that fit in darkness, and in the fhadow of death and to guide our feet into the way of peace. Glory be to the Father, &c.

I believe in the Holy Ghoft; The Holy Catholick Church; The Communion of Saints; The Forgivenefs of Sins; The Resurrection of the Body, And the Life everlasting. Amen. The third Collect, for Grace.

Lord our heavenly Father, Almighty and everlasting God, who hall fafely brought us to the beginning of this day; Defend us in the fame with thy mighty power; and grant that this day we fall into no fin, neither run into any kind of danger; but that all our doings may be ordered by thy governance, to do always that is righteous in thy fight, through Jefus Chrift our Lord. Amen.

In Choirs and Places where they fing, here followeth the Anthem. Then these five Prayers following are to be read here, except when the Litany is read; and then only the two laft are to be read, as they are there placed.

A Prayer for the King's Majefty.

Lord our heavenly Father, high and mighty, King of kings, Lord of lords, the only Ruler of princes, who doit from thy throne behold all the dwellers upon earth; Moit heartily we beseech thee, with thy favour to behold our most gracious Sovereign Lord King GEORGE; and fo replenish him with the grace of thy Holy Spirit, that he may alway incline to thy will, and walk in thy way: Endue him plenteoutly with heavenly gifts; grant him in health and wealth long to live; ftrengthen him that he may vanquish and overcome all his enemies; and finally, after this life, he may attain everlaitfting joy and felicity, through Jefus Christ our Lord. A marvels; Send down upon our Bishops and Curates, Lmighty and everlasting God, who alone workeft great all Congregations committed to their Charge, the healthful Spirit of thy grace; and, that they may truly please thee, pour upon them the continual dew of thy bleffing. Grant this, O Lord, for the honour of our Advocate and Mediator, Jesus Christ. Amen.

HEN the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he fhall fave his foul alive. Ezek. xviii. 27.

I acknowledge my tranfgreffions, and my fin is ever before me. Pfal. li. 3. Hide thy face from my fins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Ver. 9.

The facrifices of God are a broken fpirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not defpife. Ver. 17.

Rent your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, flow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. Joel ii. 13.

¶ Then fhall follow three Collects; the firft of the Day; the fecond for Peace; the third for Aid against all Perils; as hereafter followeth: Which two laft Collects jhall be daily faid at Evening Prayer, without Alteration.

¶The fecond Collect at Evening Prayer.

God, from whom alproceed, live unto lervants that and all just works do proceed; Give unto thy fervants that peace which the world cannot give; that both our hearts may be fet to obey thy commandments, and also that by thee we being defended from the fear of our enemies, may pafs our time in rest and quietness, through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

The third Collect, for Aid again all Perils.

Lighten our darkness, we beseech thee, O Lord, and by the great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night, for the love of thy only Son our Saviour Jefus Christ. ¶In Choirs and Places where they fing, here followeth the Anthem. ¶ A Prayer for the King's Majefty.

Amen.

Lord our heavenly Father, high and mighty, King of kings, Lord of lords, the only Ruler of princes, who doit from thy throne behold all the dwellers upon earth; Most heartily we beseech thee, with thy favour to behold our most gracious Sovereign Lord King GEORGE; and fo replenish him with the grace of thy Holy Spirit, that he may alway incline to thy will, and walk in thy way: Endue him plenteously with heavenly gifts; grant him in health and wealth long to live; strengthen him that he may vanquish and overcome all his enemies; and finally, after this life, he may attain everlasting joy and felicity, through Jefus Chrift our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for the Royal Family.

Almighty God, the fountain of all goodness, we humbly

befeech thee to blefs our gracious Queen CHARLOTTE, their Royal Highneffes George Prince of Wales, the Princels Dowager of Wales, and all the Royal Family: Endue them with thy Holy Spirit; enrich them with thy heavenly grace; profper them with all happiness; and bring them to thine everlasting Kingdom, through Jefus Chrift our Lord. Amen.

¶A Prayer for the Clergy and People.

A marvels; Send down upon our Bishops and Curates, and all Congregations committed to their Charge, the healthful Spirit of thy grace; and, that they may truly please thee, pour upon them the continual dew of thy bleffing. Grant this, O Lord, for the honour of our Advocate and Mediator, Jefus Chrift. Amen.

Lmighty and everlasting God, who alone workest great

one accord to make our common fupplications unto thee; and doft promife, that when two or three are gathered together in thy Name, thou wilt grant their requests: Fulfil now, O Lord, the defires and petitions of thy fervants, as may be most expedient for them; granting us in this world knowledge of thy truth, and in the world to come life everlasting. Amen. 2 Cor. xiii. 14.

T God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us, HE grace of our Lord Jefus Chrift, and the love of

all evermore. Amen.
