CHAPTER VIII. Bildad sheweth God's justice in dealing with men according to their works, 1. 8 He allegeth antiquity to prove the certain destruction of the hypocrite. 20 He applieth God's just dealing to Job. THEN answered Bildad the

11 Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?

12 Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it with ereth before any other herb. 13 So are the paths of all that 14 Whose hope shall be cut off, forget God; and the "hypocrite's hope shall perish: and whose trust shall be fa spider's web.

21 Till he fill thy mouth with ungodly laughing, and thy lips with frejoicing.

CHAPTER IX. Job, acknowledging God's justice, sheweth there is no contending with him. 1. 22 Man's innocency is not to be condemned by afflictions. THEN Job answered and said, 2 I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?

ND Job answered and said, A 2 No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.

3 But I have tunderstanding as well as you; t1 am not inferior to you: yea, twho knoweth not such things as these?

4 bI am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to

scorn.

CHAPTER XIV.
