Solomon's prayer.

forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build an house, that bmy name might be therein; but I chose "David to be over my people Israel.

17 And dit was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.

18 And the LORD said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thine heart to build an house unto my name, thou didst well that it was in thine heart. 19 Nevertheless, thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house unto my name.

20 And the LORD hath perform ed his word that he spake, and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.

CHAPTER X.

ND when the queen of Shemon concerning the name of A ba heard of the fame of Solohim with hard questions. the LORD, she came bto prove

2 And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

3 And Solomon told her all her tquestions: there was not any thing hid from the king, which he told her not.

4 And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon's wisdom, and the house that he had built, 5 And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the fattendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her.

6 And she said to the king, It was a true f report that I heard in mine own land of thy llaets and of thy wisdom.

3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart. 4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, dthat his wives turned away his heartafter other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, fas was the heart of David his father. 5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD.and † went not fully after the LORD, as did Da13. &4.30. Nu.14.24. vid his father.
