Our Father. (Ps. xxi. 13.) Be Thou exalted, Lord, in Thine own strength; so will we sing, and praise Thy power. Alleluia (ten times.). Worthy is the Lamb, &c.

THE

3. THE SESSION.

Acts v. 30.

HE God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree; Him hath God exalted with His right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

The Collect.

GOD the King of glory, who hast exalted Thine only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph unto Thy kingdom in heaven; We beseech Thee, leave us not comfortless; but send to us Thine Holy Ghost to comfort us, and exalt us unto the same place whither our Saviour Christ is gone before, who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.

Our Father. (Ps. xxi. 3.) Thou shalt prevent Him with the blessings of goodness; and hast set a crown of pure gold upon his head. Alleluia (ten times.) Worthy is the Lamb, &c.

4. THE DESCENT OF THE HOLY GHOST.

Acts ii. 1.

AND when the day of Pentecost was fully come,

they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost.

The Collect.

GOD, who didst teach the

hearts of Thy

faithful people, by the sending to them the light of Thy Holy Spirit; Grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in His holy comfort; through the merits of Christ Jesus our Saviour, who liveth and reigneth with Thee, in the unity of the same Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

Our Father. Come Holy Ghost, fill the hearts of the faithful, and kindle in them the fire of Thy love (ten times.) Worthy is the Lamb, &c.

5. THE MARRIAGE OF THE LAMB.

Rev. xix. 6.

AND I heard as it were the voice of a great

multitude, and as the voice of many waters

and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was' granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white, for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me; Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.

The Collect.

GOD, who hast prepared for them that love Thee such good things as pass man's understanding; Pour into our hearts such love toward Thee, that we, loving Thee above all things, may obtain Thy promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Our Father. (Rev. xix. 9.) Make us to be numbered with Thy saints in glory everlasting, and call us to the marriage supper of the Lamb (ten times.) Worthy is the Lamb.

V. Behold I come quickly, and my reward is with me.

R. Even so, come Lord Jesus.

Let us pray.

ALMIGHTY God, who alone canst order the unruly wills and affections of sinful men ;

Grant unto Thy people, that they may love the thing which Thou commandest, and desire that which Thou dost promise; that so, among the sundry and manifold changes of the world, our hearts may surely there be fixed, where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Crown of the Church.

PART I.

THE FOUNDING OF THE CHURCH.

Antiphon. Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather up the stones; lift up a standard for the people.

V. Arise, shine; for Thy light is come.

R. And the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

Let us pray.

ALMIGHTY God, by whose providence Thy

servant John Baptist was wonderfully born, and sent to prepare the way of Thy Son our Saviour, by preaching of repentance; make us so to follow his doctrine and holy life, that we may truly repent according to his preaching, and after his example

constantly speak the truth, boldly rebuke vice, and patiently suffer for the truth's sake; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I believe. Our Father. Lord have mercy, &c. Glory be, &c.

FROM

Mal. i. 11.

ROM the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same, My name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto My name, and a pure offering; for My name shall be great among the heathen, saith the Lord of hosts.

V. He hath been alway mindful of His covenant and promise.

V. That He made to a thousand generations.

Let us pray.

LORD, raise up (we pray Thee) Thy power,

and come among us, and with great might succour us; that whereas, through our sins and wickedness, we are sore let and hindered in running the race that is set before us, Thy bountiful grace and mercy may speedily help and deliver us; through the satisfaction of Thy Son our Lord, to whom with Thee and the Holy Ghost be honour and glory, world without end. Amen.
