From all avarice and covetousness;
From gluttony and surfeiting;
From envy and hatred;

From anger and ill-will;

From all luxury and uncleanness;
From all sloth and faint-heartedness;
From everlasting condemnation;
By the power of Thy Omnipotence;
By the majesty of Thy Glory;
By the multitude of Thy Mercies;
By the abundance of Thy Clemency;
By the greatness of Thy Love;
By the depth of Thy Judgments;
By the height of Thy Wisdom;
By the riches of Thy Blessedness;
In the Day of Judgment;

We sinners beseech Thee to hear us;
That we may worship Thee, our Lord God,
and serve Thee only;

That we take not Thy holy Name in vain;
That we may duly observe and sanctify the
Fasts and Feasts of Thy Church;

That we may honour and obey our parents
and superiors;

That we hurt nobody by word or deed;
That we commit no uncleanness of mind or
body;

That we neither defraud nor do injustice to
any;

We beseech Thee to hear us.

Deliver us, O Holy Trinity.

That we never speak falsely against our neighbours;

That we never covet others' goods.

That we may love Thee with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our strength; That we may sincerely love our neighbours as ourselves;

That Thou wouldest bring us to behold Thy
glory;

God the Father, God the Son, and God the
Holy Ghost;

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Sabaoth;

We beseech Thee to hear us.

Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world;

Render Thy Father merciful to us.

Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world;

Be Thou merciful unto us.

Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world;

Give us Thy Holy Spirit.

O Blessed Trinity, hear us.
O Adorable Unity, hear us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.

Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.

Our Father, &c.

V. Blessed art Thou, O Lord God of our Fathers; R. Worthy to be praised, and glorified for ever.

R. And let my cry come unto Thee.

Let us pray.

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, Who hast

given unto us Thy servants grace by the confession of a true faith to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of the Divine Majesty to worship the Unity; We beseech Thee, that Thou wouldest keep us steadfast in this faith, and evermore defend us from all adversities, Who livest and reignest, one God, world without end. Amen.

13. Litany of Penitence.

Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy upon us.
O Christ, hear us.

Christ, graciously hear us.

God the Father of Heaven;

God the Son, Redeemer of the world;
God the Holy Ghost, Perfector of the elect;
Holy Trinity, one God;

God of all goodness, who willest not the death
of a sinner, but rather that he should be con-
verted and live;

Who, when Adam fell, didst call him to confession and repentance of his sin;

Who didst preserve just Noah in the ark from perishing by water, and broughtest in the flood on the ungodly;

Who didst save Lot from the midst of sinners; Who at the prayer of Moses didst forgive the sins of the backsliding people;

Who didst pardon the sins of David, after confession and repentance;

Who didst spare Ahab when he humbled himself;

Who didst grant pardon to the Ninevites, when they repented in sackcloth and ashes;

Have mercy upon us.

Who didst come into the world to save sin

ners;

Who didst send Thy messengers before Thy face to preach repentance;

Who didst fast forty days and forty nights; Who didst draw Matthew from the custom table;

Who didst justify the Publican;

Who didst forgive the sick of the palsy his sins;

Who did make known to the woman of Samaria the fountain of living water;

Who did bring salvation to the house of Zacchaus, repenting of his sins and making restitution;

Who didst exercise Thy mercy in behalf of the woman taken in adultery;

Who didst receive publicans and sinners and cat with them;

Who forgavedst Magdalene her sins, for she loved much;

Who didst recall Peter when he denied Thec, with one look;

Who didst promise Paradise to the penitent thief;

Who lovest all Thy creatures, and hatest nothing that Thou hast made;

Who didst come to seek and to save those that were lost;

Have mercy upon us,
