9. Litany of the Blessed Sacrament. (For Maunday Thursday and any Thursday, or before or after recep tion of the Blessed Sacrament.) Lord, have mercy upon us. God the Father, Creator of the World; Jesus, Who of Thy infinite love didst under- Jesus, Who for our sakes vouchsafest to be present on our altar; Jesus, the Physician of Souls, Who camest down from heaven to heal us, and Who givest us Thy Body and Blood to be our medicine; Jesus, the Bread of Life, of which whosoever eateth shall live for ever; Jesus, the Heavenly Manna, which nourisheth the elect in the wilderness of this world; Have mercy upon us. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, Who layedst down Jesus, the Priest and the Sacrifice; Jesus, Who by this blessed fruit of the Tree Thou who art over all, God blessed for ever; By Thy unspeakable mercy in receiving pub- Through the love whereby Thou art still pre- O Jesu, Who when Thou wert about to insti- Hear us, O good Lord, Have mercy upon us, O Jesu, Whom Zaccheus did joyfully entertain in his house, do Thou condescend to dwell in us, to be our life and our joy; Hear us, O good Lord. From all making light of this Divine Sacrament, From the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, From every occasion of sin, From every evil thought, From all error, irreverence, and blindness of heart, That Thou wouldest give us a true hunger and thirst after righteousness; That Thou wouldest raise our minds more and more to heavenly desires; That Thou wouldest evermore cherish in our hearts reverence and true devotion; That Thou wouldest increase our faith, and enlarge our charity; That Thou wouldest give us grace to present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto Thee; That in the hour of death Thou wouldst strengthen and defend us with this immortal Food; We beseech Thee to hear us for all those who have despised or neglected Thee in these Divine mysteries, that Thou wouldst give We beseech Thee to hear us, good Lord. Good Lord, deliver us. them grace to know, to adore, and to love Thee; For all who by any unbelief, irreverence, or profaneness towards this Divine Sacrament have provoked Thee to anger, that Thou wouldest pardon them, and turn their hearts; For all who having received Thee and tasted how gracious Thou art, have fallen again into deadly sin, that Thou wouldest vouchsafe to them true contrition and renewed life; That notwithstanding all the provocation wherewith Thou hast been grieved, Thou wouldest not leave us, nor withdraw the fulness of Thy grace in which Thou hast promised to be present with us even unto the end of the world; We beseech Thee to hear us, good Lord.
