OFFENCES. Leud and Difowerly Practices. Keeping of Baudy-Houfes, c. is against the Law of God, on which our Common Law in this Cafe is grounded: Therefore the Keepers of Houfes of Baudry and Incontinence, Reforters and Frequenters of Baudy-Houfes, Cap. 4. The Ordinary may punish In-1 Hen. 7. continency in their Clergy by Imprifonment,at their difcretion. Adultery, &c. and all Acts of Baudry, are Breaches of the Peace, If a Conftable, &c. has Notice that a Woman is in Adultery, &c. with a Man, or that a Man or Woman of evil Fame is gone to a fufpected House, One that hath leud Women found in his Houfe, common Whore-Mafters, or Whores, Strangers, or others, that are fufpicious, that walk by Night, efpecially if they haunt leud Houses, or keep ill Company, or commit Outrages, Juftices muft do their Duty, Idlers that refuse to Work, and Disorderly Perfons, Wandring Rogues, &c. Are to be Punished, being a Common Nufance, by Indictment at Common Law, by Fine and Imprisonment. their Charge upon the Parish, Five Pounds to be Levied by Diftrefs, and Bound to the Good Behaviour by Two Juftices, Quorum un. Ten Shillings to be Levied; by Diftrefs and Sale, ut fupra. To be Punished as Rogues, 5c. To be fent to the Houfe of Such as threaten to run away, 7 Jac. C. 4. Correction, or give Security Two Witnelles, If any Woman fhall have a Baftard Child which may be chargeable to the Parish, to discharge the Parish. House of Correction for One Year, to be fent by Two Juftices, and Bound not to Offend fo again. Forty Shillings, and Imprisonment until he become Bound by Recognizance to keep no more. Forty Shillings. Imprisonment until he be bound to play no more, and to pay 6s. 8d. to be recovered, in Quarter-Seffions.
