by the Duty We owe to God, and the Care Te have of the People committed to Dur Charge, to proceed in taking effectual Course, that Religion, Piety_and_Good Hanners may, accozding to Dur hearty Delire, Flourish and Increase under Dur Adminiftration and Government; and be ng thereunto moved by the Pious Addzels of the Commons in Parliament Affembled, We have thought fit, by the Advice of Dur Privy Councils to Jalue this Dur Royal Proclamation, and do Declare Our Royal Purpose and Resolution to Discounte iance and Punish all manner of Mice, Im nozality and P20phaneness in all Perfons rom the highest to the lowest Degree with n this Dur Realm, and particularly in uch who are Imployed near Dur Royal Perfon; and that for the greater Incou agement of Religion and Mozality, We vill, upon all Decations, Diftinguith Den If Piety and Uirtue by Marks of Dur Royal Favour. And We do expect that all Perlons of Honour, o2 in Place of Autho ity, will to their utmott contribute to the Discountenancing Men of Diffolute and Debauched Lives, that they being reduced o Shame and Contempt, may be enforced he tooner to Reform their ill Habits and Practices, that the Displeasure of Good Ven towards them, may supply what the aws (it may be) cannot wholly Pieent. We do hereby ftrictly Charge and Command all Dur Judges, Bayo2s, Sheriffs, Justices of the Peace, and all other Dur Officers and Ministers, both Ecclefiaftical and Civil, and other Dur Subjects, whom it may Concern, to be very Wigi lant and Strict in the Discovery and the Effectual Profecution and Punishment of all Persons who shall be Guilty of Excellive Dunking, Blafphemy, Prophane Swearing and Curling, Lewonels, P20phanation of the Lozds Day, o2 other Diflölute, Immozal oz Dilozderly Panices, as they will answer it to Almighty God, and upon Pain of Dur Highett Displeasure. And for the moze Effectual Proceedings herein, We do hereby Direct and Command Dur Judges of Afizes and Juftices of Peace, to give ftria Charges at the relpective Ailizes and Sellions, for the due Piolecution and Punishment of all Perlons that thall pzefüme to Defend in any the Kinds afozelaid, and allo of all Perlons that, contrary to their Duty, thall be Remifs o2 Negligent in Putting the faid Laws in Execution, and that they do at their respective Allizes and Duarter Sellions of the Peace, caule this Dur Proclamation to be publickly Read in Dpen Court immediately before the Charge is given.
