THE following Sermons are printed in deference to the expressed wish of a large body of members of the University of Cambridge. The first four were delivered by the Author before the University, in the discharge of his office as Select Preacher for the month. The remaining two were preached in support of causes most dear to the Christian and the Churchman, the one at the Evening Lecture in Great St. Mary's Church, the other at that in St. Michael's.

It has been pointed out to the author, that a version of the Fifth Sermon, as preached on another occasion, had been given in a periodical
