Q.142 Whai are the fins forbidden in the eighth commandment?

A. The fins forbidden in the eighth commandment, beside the neglect of the duties required y, are, theft z, robbery a, man-stealing b, and receiving any thing that is stolen c; fraudulent dulent dealing d, false weights and measures e, removing land-marksf, injustice and unfaithfulness in contracts between man and man g, or in matters of trust b; oppreffion i, extortion k, ufury 1, briberym, vexatious law-suits n, unjust inclosures and depopulations; ingrossing commodities to inhance

fmart for it; and he that hateth furetyship is sure.

x Lev. xxv. 35. And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger, or a fojourner; that he may live with thee. Deut. xxii. 1. A. The duties required in the ninth commandment are, the preferving and promoting of truth between man and man b,

thought for the morrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself; iufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Eccl. v. 12. The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not fuffer him to sleep.

w Pfal. lxxiii. 3. For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the profperity of the wicked. Pf. xxxvii. 1. Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. v.7.
