ON THE CATECHISM OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND, WITH ILLUSTRATIONS FROM SCRIPTURE BIOGRAPHY, BY ROBERT SUTTON, HEAD MASTER OF THE MORAL AND INDUSTRIAL TRAINING SCHOOLS, LATE NORMAL MASTER, AND HEAD MASTER OF THE MODEL AND MANCHESTER: JOHN HEYWOOD, 141 AND 143, DEANSGATE. LONDON: SIMPKIN, MARSHALL, & Co.; J. C. TACEY. PREFACE. THE following full Notes of Lessons on the Catechism of the Church of England have been repeatedly given to large Classes in these Schools, and also in the Schools in connection with the York Training College, in my capacity as Normal Master of that Institution. They are now offered to the Public, after repeated solicitations of Friends and old Pupils, in the hope that they will supply a want long felt in Day and Sunday Schools, of a thorough and practical exposition of the subject from a Schoolmaster's point of view. There is no claim made for originality in them: they have been carefully compiled, and frequently revised, from various sources (Maclear, Dixon, Duval, Arden, Grundy, &c.); and are arranged to serve as Notes for oral teaching, or as a Text-book to be placed in the hands of Pupils.
