' Amfterdam. all tender Confciences in Matters of Religion and 1677. Worship, they living peaceable under every Government fo that for the time to come there may be no more Imprifonment and Perfecution among the Chriftians, for Matters of tender Confciences about Matters of Faith, Worship and Religion, that the Jews, Turks, Tartars and Heathens may not fee, how Chriftians are Perfecuting one another for Religion. And feeing, from Chrift and the Apoftles Chri'ftians have no fuch Command, but on the contrary, to Love one another; and knowing, that Chrift faid to fuch, as would have been plucking up Tares, Let the Tares and the Wheat grow together, till the Harveft (which is the End of the World) left they plucked up the Wheat; and at the End of the World 'Chrift would fend forth his Angels, and they fhould 'fever the Wheat from the Tares: So Chrift tells you, that it is the Angels work at the End of the 'World, and not Mens work, before the Harvest at 'the End of the World. Hath not all this Perfecution, Banishing, and Imprifoning and putting to 'Death concerning Religion, been the pretence of 'plucking up Tares? and hath not all this been be'fore the Harveft, and before the End of the World? 'And therefore, have not all these been the Actors against the Exprefs Command of Chrift, the King of Heaven? which all Kings and Rulers, efpecially they, that call themselves Chriftians, fhould obey their Lord and Saviour's Command, which he exprefly Commands: Let the Tares and the Wheat grow together, till the Harveft; and the Harveft is the -End of the World: and then Chrift will fend his Angels, and they fhall fever the Wheat from the Tares, &c. And alfo Chrift told fome of his Difci"ples, that would have had Fire to come down from Heaven, to destroy fuch as would not receive bim (in their Zeal;). That they did not know, what Spirit they were of and rebuked them, and faid; He came not 'to deftroy Mens Lives, but to fave them. And there'fore all fuch, that have deftroyed Mens Lives con⚫ cerning . ་ O02 dam. 1677. cerning Religion, and Worship of God, have they known, what Spirit they have been of? Have they Amfter not done, that they fhould not do? and done that, ' which Chrift forbad, who faith, Left ye fhould pluck up the Wheat with the Tares, and faith, It is the Angels work at the End of the World? And hath not God fhewed unto Man, what is Good, and his Duty, To Love Mercy, and to do Fuftly, and to walk Humbly with his God? which Man is to mind. And the Apoftle exhorts the Chriftians, to Follow Peace with all Men, and Holiness, without which no Man fhall fee the Lord, Hebr. 12. 14. And why 'fhould Chriftians War and Strive one with another, feeing they all do own in words one King, and 'Lord and Saviour Chrift Jefus, whofe Command is, That they fhould Love one another; which is a "Mark, that they fhall be known by, to be Chrift's Difciples, as I faid before. And Chrift, who is the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, faith; As I "bave Loved you, fo love one another, John 15. 12. and John 13. And the Apoftle faith, Chriftians ought to be patient towards all Men, 1 Theff. 5. 14.
