opposite side from that where the beautiful and majestic personage stood, his image reflected on the chrystal was thrown back upon them, and they instantly received his glorious resemblance, became bright, and happy looking, and then disappeared, gradually rising, and vanishing out of sight.

Among others he recognized a sister of his who had died a few months before: she was clad in deep mourning, with a babe in her arms, and was weeping; he was greatly moved at seeing her, but as she approached the table, her mourning robes fell off, her eyes sparkled, and her tears were dried

away, and at length after she had received the likeness of him who was reflected on the chrystal, he had the delight of beholding her joyfully rise as the others had done before, and with her babe ascend on high. The last person of the twenty was a man whom he that dreamed knew very well, he had a high name in the religious world, professed much, and seemed very active in every good work, at that time, a living character. However when his summons came, he went forward with great confidence in his manner, as if he were certain of a good reception: but, as he drew near, the personage on the right side of the table assumed a

new and terrible aspect, his countenance which till then had been sweet and encouraging, now became severe, and awful: the surface of the chrystal now became black as jet, and when the man came opposite to it, he became black and diabolical in his appearance, and violent smoke issuing from the tripod, enveloped him, and whirled him away to be seen no more. Terrified and astonished, the spectator of these wonders now began to tremble for himself, he looked fearfully upward and said, "Lord, what shall I do ?" "When am I to be called ?" The majestic figure then re-assuming all his former loveliness and benignity, smiled, but

forbade him to approach nearer. "It is not for you," said he, "yet to know when you will be summoned before God, but if, in the hour of death, and in the day of judgment, you tremble and are afraid, plead these wounds:" thus saying, he extended his hands, and exposed his side, when the subject of the vision clearly saw the five wounds received for sinners on Calvary, and then, and not till then, did he perceive that this glorious and divine personage was his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
