6 And Jofeph died and all his Brethren, and all that Ge

neration.

7 And the Children of ISRAEL were fruitful, and increafed abundantly, and MULTIPLIED, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the Land was FILLED with them.

8 Now there arofe up a new King over Egypt, which knew not Jofeph.

9 And he faid unto his People, Behold, the People of the Children of Ifrael are more and mightier than we.

10 Come on, let us deal wifely with them: left they MUTIPLY, and it come to pass, that when there falleth out any War, they joyn also unto our Enemies, and fight against us, and fo get them up out of the Land.

11 Therefore they did fet over them Task-mafters, to AFFLICT them with their Burdens. And they built for Pharaoh Treasure-cities, Pithom and Raamfes.

12 But the MORE they AFFLICTED them, the MORE they MULTIPLIED and grew. And they were grieved because of the Children of Ifrael.

13 And the Egyptians made the Children of Ifrael to serve with Rigour.

14 And they made their LIVES BITTER with hard BONDAGE in Morter, and in Brick, and in all manner of Service in the Field; all their Service wherein they made them ferve was with RIGOUR.

15 And the King of Egypt fpake to the Hebrew Midwives,

16 And he faid, When ye do the Office of a Midwife to the Hebrew Women, if it be a SoN, then ye fhall KILL him, but if it be a Daughter, then fhe fhall live.

17 But the Midwives feared GOD, and did not as the King of Egypt commanded them, but faved the Men-children alive.

18 And the King of Egypt called for the Midwives, and faid unto them, Why have ye done this Thing, and have faved the Men-children alive?

19 And the Midwives faid unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew Women are not as the Egyptian Women: for they are lively, and are delivered ere the Midwives come in unto them.

20 Therefore God dealt well with the Midwives and the People MULTIPLIED, and waxed very mighty.

21 And it came to pafs, because the Midwives feared GOD, that he made them Houses.

22 And Pharaoh charged all his People, faying, Every Son that is born ye fhall caft into the River, and every Daughter ye fhall fave alive.

CHA P. II.

1 Mofes is born; 3 raft into the Flags: 5 He is found, and brought up by Pharaoh's Daughter. 22 Gershom born.

ND there went up a Man of the House of Levi, and took to Wife a Daughter of Levi.

2 " And the Woman conIceived and bare a Son: and when she saw him that he was a GOODLY CHILD, fhe

hid him three Months.

3 And when she could not longer hide him, fhe took for him an Ark of Bulrushes, and daubed it with Slime and with Pitch, and put the Child therein; and the laid it in the Flags by the River's Brink.

4 And his Sifter ftood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.

" Ads vii. 17 When the Time of the PROMISE drew NIGH, which GOD had fworn to ABRAHAM, the People grew and MULTIPLIED in Egypt,

18 Till another King arose which knew not Jofeph.

19 The fame dealt fubtilly with our Kindred, and evil intreated our

Fathers, fo that they caft out their young CHILDREN, to the End they might not LIVE.

20 In which Time Moses was born,

and was EXCEEDING FAIR, and nourifhed up in his Father's House three Months.

21 And when he was caft out, Pha

raoh's Daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own Son.

Heb. xi. 23 BY FAITH MOSES when he was born was hid three Months of

his Parents, because they faw he was a PROPER CHILD; and they were not afraid of the King's Commandment.

5 And the Daughter of Pharach came down to wash herself at the River, and her Maidens walked along by the River fide: and when she saw the Ark among the Flags, fhe fent her Maid to fetch it.

6 And when she had opened it, fhe faw the Child and behold the Babe wept. And fhe had Compaffion on him, and faid, This is one of the Hebrew's Children.

7 Then faid his Sifter to Pharaoh's Daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a Nurfe of the Hebrew Women, that the may nurse the Child for thee?

8 And Pharaoh's Daughter said unto her, Go. And the Maid went and called the Child's MOTHER.

9 And Pharaoh's Daughter faid unto her, Take this Child away, and nurfe it for me; and I will give thee thy Wages. And the Woman took the Child, and nurfed it.

10 And the Child grew, and fhe brought him unto Pharaoh's Daughter, and he became her Son. And the called his Name MOSES: and the faid, Because I drew him out of the Water.

I I • And it came to pafs in thofe Days, when Moses was grown, that he went forth unto his BRETHREN, and looked on their BURDENS: and he fpied an Egyptian fmiting an Hebrew, one of his Brethren.

And he looked this Way, and that Way, and when he saw that there was no Man, he flew the Egyptian, and hid him in the Sand. 13 And when he went out the fecond Day, behold, two Men of the Hebrews ftrove together: and he faid to him that did the Wrong, Wherefore smiteft thou thy Fellow? 14 And he faid, Who made thee a PRINCE and a JUDGE over us? Intendeft thou to kill me as thou killedft the Egyptian? And MOSES feared, and faid, Surely this thing is known.

15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he fought to flay Moses. But Mofes fled from the Face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the Land of Midian: and he fat down by a Well.

23 And when he was full forty Years old, it came into his Heart to vifit his BRETHREN the Children of ISRAEL.

24 And feeing one of them fuffer Wrong, he defended him, and avenimote the Egyptian. ged him that was oppreffed, and

25 For he fuppofed his BRETHREN would have UNDERSTOOD, how that GOD by his HAND Would DELIVER them; but they understood not.

26 And the next Day he fhewed himself unto them as they ftrove, and would have fet them at one again, faying, Sirs, ye are BRETHREN. why do ye WRONG one to another?

27 But he that did his Neighbour

wrong, thruft him away, faying, who made thee a RULER and a JUDGE over us?

28 Wilt thou kill me as thou didft

the Egyptian yesterday?

29 Then FLED MOSES at this Saying, and was a STRANGER in the Land

of Madian.

26 Efteeming the REPROACH of CHRIST greater RICHES than the TREASURES in Egypt: for he had RESPECT unto the RECOMPENCE of REWARD.

27 BY FAITH he forfook Egypt, for he ENDURED, as SEEING him who not fearing the Wrath of the King: is INVISIBLE.

16 Now the Prieft of Midian had feven Daughters: and they came and drew Water; and filled the Troughs to water their Fathers Flock. 17 And the Shepherd came and drove them away: but MOSES ftood up and helped them, and watered their Flock.

18 And

18 And when they came to Reuel their Father, he said, How is it that you are come fo foon To-day?

19 And they faid, An Egyptian delivered us out of the Hand of the Shepherds, and alfo drew Water enough for us, and watered the Flock.

zo And he faid unto his Daughters, And where is he? Why is it that ye have left the Man? Call him, that he may eat Bread.

21 And Mofes was content to dwell with the Man: and he gave Mofes Zipporah his Daughter.

22 And fhe bare him a Son, and he called his Name Gerfhom: for he faid, I have been a STRANGER in a strange Land.

23 And it came to pafs in procefs of Time, that the King. of Egypt died, and the Children of Ifrael SIGHED by reason of the BONDAGE, and they cried; and their CRY came UP unto GOD, by reafon of the BONDAGE.

24 And GOD HEARD their Groaning, and GOD remembred his COVENANT With ABRAHAM, with Ifaac, and with Jacob.

25 And GoD looked upon the Children of Ifrael, and GOD had RESPECT unto them.

CHA P. III.

1 Mofes keepeth Jethro's Flock: 2 GOD appeareth to him in a burning Bush: 9 He is fent to Ifrael: 15 His Meffage.

WOW MOSES kept the Flock of Jethro his Father-in-law, the Priest of Midian: and he led the Flock to the Back-fide of the Defart, and came to the Mountain of GOD, even to HOREB.

4 And when the LORD faw that he turned afide to fee, GOD called unto him out of the midst of the BUSH, and faid, MOSES, Mofes. And he faid, Here am I.

5 And he faid, Draw not nigh hither, put off thy Shoes from off thy Feet, for the PLACE whereon thou ftandeft, is HOLY GROUND.

33 Then faid the LORD to him, the Place where thou ftandest is HOLY Put off thy SHOES from thy Feet: for GROUND.

Rev. xv. 3 And they fing the Song of Moses the Servant of GOD, and the Song of the LAMB, faying, Great and MARVELLOUS are thy Works, LORD GOD ALMIGHTY; juft and true are thy Ways, thou KING of SAINTS. 4 Who fhall not FEAR thee, O LORD, and GLORIFY thy Name? for Thou only art HOLY.

6 Moreover he faid, I am the GoD of thy Father, the GOD of Abraham, and the GOD of Ifaac, and the GoD of Jacob. And MOSES hid his Face: for he was AFRAID to look upon GOD.

7 9 And the LORD faid, I have furely feen the AFFLICTION of my People which are in Egypt, and have HEARD their CRY, by reason of their Tafk-masters: for I know their SORROWS.

Aas vii. 34 I have feen, I have which is in Egypt, and I have heard feen the AFFLICTION of my People their Groaning, and am come down

to DELIVER them. And now come, I will fend thee into Egypt.

35 This MOSES, whom they REFUSED, faying, Who made thee a RULER and a JUDGE the fame did God fend to be a RULER and a DELIVERER by the Hands of the ANGEL which APPEARED to him in the BUSH.

36 He brought them out, after that he had fhewed Wonders and Signs in the Land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the Wilderness forty

8 And I am come down to DELIVER them out of the Hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that LAND, unto a good Land, and a large, unto a Land flowing with Milk and Hony; unto the Place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebufites.

9 Now therefore behold, the CRY of the Children of Ifrael is come unto me and I have alfo feen the OPPRESSION wherewith the Egyptians opprefs them.

io Come now therefore, and I will fend thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayft bring forth my People, the Children of Ifrael out of Egypt.

II And MOSES faid unto God, Who am I, that I fhould go unto Pharaoh, and that I fhould bring forth the Children of Ifrael out of Egypt?

12 And he faid, Certainly, I will be WITH THEE; and this fhall be a Token unto thee, that I have fent thee:
