XIX. 1 The People come to Sinai. 3 GOD's Meffage to the People out of the Mount: 8 Their Answer returned. 16 The fearful Prefence of GOD upon the Mount. Ver. 1TN the third Month, when the Children of Ifracl were gone forth out of the Land of Egypt, the fame Day came they into the Wilderness of Sinai. 2 For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the Defart of Sinai, and had pitched in the Wilderness, and there Ifrael camped before the Mount. 3 And Mofes went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the Mountain, faying, Thus fhalt thou fay unto the Houfe of Jacob, and tell the Children of Ifrael; 4 Ye have feen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I BARE you on EAGLE'S Wings, and brought you unto myfelf.. Ifa. xliii. 1 Now thus faith the LORD that created thee, O JACOB, and he that formed thee, O ISRAEL, Fear not: for I have REDEEMED thee, I have CALLED thee by thy Name, 5 i Now therefore, if ye will obey my Voice indeed, and keep my COVENANT, then ye fhall be a PECULIAR TREASURE unto me above all People for all the Earth is mine. through the FIRE, thou shalt not be burnt; neither fhall the Flame kindle upon thee. thou art MINE. 2 When thou paffeft through the WATERS, I WILL be WITH THEE; and through the Rivers they fhall not overflow thee: when thou walkeft 3 For I am the LORD thy GOD. the HOLY ONE of Ifrael, thy SAVIOUR. I a. xli 8 But thou Ifrael art my Servant, JACOB whom I have chofen, the Seed of ABRAHAM my Friend. 9 Thon whom I have TAKEN from the Ends of the Earth, and called thee from the chief Ends thereof, and faid unto thee, Thou art my SERVANT, I have CHOSEN thee. and not caft thee away 1 John it. I Behold what manner of Love the FATHER hath BESTOWED upon us, that we should be CALLED the SONS of GoD: therefore the World knoweth us not, becaufe it KNEW him not. 2 Now are we the Sons of GOD, and it doth not yet appear what we shall : be but we know, that when he fhall APPEAR, we fhall be LIKE him, for we fhall SEE him as he is, And every Man that hath this HOPE in him, PURIFIETH himself, even as he is pure Cat i. 12 GIVING THANKS unto the FATHER, which hath made us MEET to be PARTAKERS of the INHERITANCE of the SAINTS in LIGHT: 13 Who hath DELIVERED US from the POWER OF DARKNESS, and hath tranflated us into the KINGDOM of his DEAR SON. 14 In whom we have REDEMPTION through his BLOOD, even the FORGIVENESS of SINS. 6 And ye fhall be unto me a Kingdom of PRIESTS, and an HOLY NATION. Thefe are the Words which thou fhalt fpeak unto the Children of Ifrael. 7 And MOSES came and called for the Elders of the People, and laid before their Faces all thefe Words which the LORD commanded him. 8 And all the People anfwered together, and faid, All that the LORD hath spoken, we will do. And Mofes returned the Words of the People unto the LORD. Rev. i. 4 GRACE he unto you, and PEACE from him which is, and which WAS, and which IS TO COME; s And from JESUS CHRIST, who is the FAITHFUL WITNESS, and the FIRST BEGOTTEN of the DEAD, and the PRINCE of the KINGS of the EARTH: unto him that LOVED us, and WASHED US from our SINS in his owN BLOOD, 6 And hath made us KINGS and PRIESTS unto GoD and his FATHER; to him be GLORY and DOMINION for 9 And the LORD faid unto MOSES, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick Cloud, that ever and ever. the People may hear when I fpeak with thee, and BELIEVE thee for ever. told the Words of the People unto the LORD. And MOSES 10 And the LORD faid unto MOSES, Go unto the People, and SANCTIFY them To-day and To-morrow, and let them wash their Cloaths, 11 And be ready against the third Day: for the third. Day the LORD will come down in the Sight of all the People upon Mount Sinai. 12 And thou fhalt fet Bounds unto the People round about, faying, Take heed to yourfelves, that ye go not up into the Mount, or touch the Border of it: whofoever TOUCHETH the Mount, fhall be furely put to DEATH. 13 There fhall not an Hand touch it, but he fhall furely be ftoned or fhot through; whether it be Beaft or Man, it fhall not LIVE: when the TRUMPET foundeth long, they fhall come up to the Mount. 14 And MOSES went down from the Mount unto the People, and SANCTIFIED the People, and they washed their Cloaths. 15 And he said unto the People, Be ready against the third Day come not at your Wives. 16 And it came to pafs on the third Day in the Morning, that there were THUNDERS and LIGHTNINGS, and a thick CLOUD upon the MoUNT, and the VOICE of the Trumpet EXCEEDING LOUD; fo that all the People that was in the Camp TREMBLED. 17 And Mofes brought forth the People out of the Camp to meet with GOD, and they stood at the nether Part of the Mount. 27 And this WORD, Yet once more, unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou fhalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the Priests and the People break through, to come up unto the LORD, left he break forth upon them. 24 And the LORD faid faying, Yet once more I SHAKE not the EARTH only, but also HEAVEN. fignifieth the REMOVING of those Things that are SHAKEN, as of the Things that ARE MADE, that those Things which CANNOT be SHAKEN may REMAIN. 28 Wherefore we RECEIVING A KINGDOM which cannot be MOVED, let us 25 So Mofes went down unto the People, and fpake unto them. have GRACE, whereby we may SERVE 29 For our GOD is a CONSUMING CHAP. Ezek. xiv. 7 Every one of the House of Ifrael, or of the Stranger that fojourneth in Ifrael which feparateth himself from me, and fetteth up his IDOLS in his Heart, and putteth the Stumbling-block of his Iniquity be fore his Face, and cometh to a Prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself. 8 And I will fet my Face againft that Man, and will make him a Sign and a Proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my People, and ye fhall know that I am the LORD. Ezek viii 12 Then faid he unto me, Son of Man, haft thou seen what the Ancients of the Houfe of Ifrael do in the Dark, every Man in the CHAMBERS of his IMAGERY? for they fay, The LORD feeth us not, the LORD hath forfaken the Earth. 1 Cor. viii. 4 We know that an IDOL is nothing in the World, and that there is none other GoD but one. Rom. i. 20 For the INVISIBLE Things of him from the Creation of the World are clearly SEEN, being understood by the Things that are made, even his ETERNAL POWER and GODHEAD; fo that they are without Excufe: 21 Because that when they knew GOD, they GLORIFIED him NOT as GOD, neither were thankful, but became VAIN in their IMAGINATIONS, and their foolish Heart was darkned. 25 Who CHANGED the TRUTH of GOD into a LIE, and WORSHIPPED the CREATURE more than the CREATOR.
