I DEDICATE this Volume X. of "The Republican" to you, as one proof, that, in the course of my performance of that, which you only professed as a cloak for the most wicked actions towards a community, a suppression of vice, I have suppressed your society with all its secret powers and pretensions. I have now shown you, that vice is easily sup pressed when it is manfully combatted.

The first paper shot that you fired at me, I printed, and beaded it "VICE versus REASON." By proving, that all religion is vice, I have proved, that you encouraged, instead, of suppressing vice, and that your warfare with me was, in reality, in truth, a warfare of VICE versus REASON AND VIR

I have every reason to believe, that the Attorney General would not have proceeded with his Information against me, for the publication of the "Age of Reason," had it not been for your saintly clamour and urgency; therefore this country and mankind at large will soon be under great obligation to you, or to me, for accelerating the overthrow of all religion, all'idolatry. I can now maintain against all the learning that Oxford or Cambridge has produced, that
