AsThe Mission of Jesus the Messiahtraces the Savior's mission, it briefly discusses his role in the premortal life as the foreordained Savior and Creator of the world and his role as the great Jehovah of Old Testament times. It continues by relating the New Testament narrative of his mortal birth and childhood, and when John the Baptist (the forerunner) testifies of him and baptized him, the begging of his earthly ministry.

The story then proceeds to the culmination of Christ's earthly ministry and the events of his last week of life: the Last Supper, the betrayal, the agony in the garden, the arrest, the trials, and the cruelties and indignities he suffered before his death. It further recounts the joy he brought to the righteous men and women in the spirit world prior to his resurrection. After his resurrection he appeared to and taught his disciples in both the Old World and the New. The book ends with a review of the Apostasy, the Restoration, a brief discussion of the Second Coming, and the promise of a glorious resurrection (and for the righteous, eternal life).
