That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished to all good works. 2 Tim. iii. 17.
For the Law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did. Heb. vii. 19.

I SAID days shall speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom. But there is a spirit in man; and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth him understanding. Job xxxii. 7, 8.
God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he which we cannot comprehend. xxxvii. 5.
With God is terrible majesty: touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power and in judgement, and in plenty of justice; he will not afflict;-men do therefore fear him ;—he respecteth not any that are wise of heart. xxxvii. 22 to 24.
Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts, or who hath given understanding to the heart? Xxxviii. 36.
Then Job answered the Lord, and said, I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee. Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? The meek will he guide in judgement; and the meek will he teach his way. Psalm xxv. 9.
O Lord, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. xcii. 5, 6.
He that teacheth man knowledge shall not he know? The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity. xciv. 10, 11.
Through thy precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way. cxix. 104.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not to thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Prov. iii. 5, 6.
The froward is an abomination to the Lord;: but his secret is with the righteous. iii. 32.

Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God. 1. 10.

O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgements, and his ways past finding out! for who hath known the mind of the Lord, or who hath been his counsellor? Rom. xi. 33.
For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent, because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren; how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called. But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things that are mighty; and base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen; yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: that no flesh should glory in his presence. 1 Cor. i. 19; 25, 26;
