So when his fellow-servants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord after that he had called him, said unto him, "O thou wicked servant! I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me; shouldst not thou also have had compassion on thy fellow-servant, even as I had pity on thee?" And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So, likewise, shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

The kingdom of Heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods and unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to every man according to his several ability, and straightway took his journey. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two; but he that had received one, went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

After a long time the lord of those servants cometh and reckoneth with them. And so he that had received five talents, came and brought other five talents, saying, "Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained, besides them, five talents more." His lord said unto him, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will make thee ruler over many things, enter thou into the joy of thy lord." A. A severe man. Why did he think him severe ?

A. Only because he expected him to make the most of what had been given him. What do you remark in this language of the servant to his lord?

A. That it was wrong in him to make use of it. Why so?

A. Because he took upon himself to blame his lord, whereas he alone was in fault.

What did he say he had done with his talent?

What did his lord call him for such conduct? Why did "slothful?"

A. Persons who traded in money, and made a profit thereby for themselves, and those who placed it in their hands.
