OUR FATHER: OR, JESUS TEACHING TO PRAY. An Exposition OF THE LORD'S PRAYER. BY THE REV. SAMUEL GARRATT, MINISTER OF TRINITY CHURCH, LITTLE QUEEN-STREET, AUTHOR OF "THE DAWN OF LIFE," "SCRIPTURE SYMBOLISM," &c. LONDON: WERTHEIM AND MACINTOSH, 1854. 138. L. 250. PREFACE. By the advice of esteemed friends, I commit this "Exposition of the Lord's Prayer" to the press. My own first impression was an unwillingness to add another to the many books which have been written on the same subject; among others, the Treatises of Bishops Hopkins and Manton, to both of which I am greatly indebted. But, on the other hand, it may be said, that the reason of so much having been written on the Lord's Prayer is, that its vein of precious gold is inexhaustible, and repays all labour. If this little volume should prove useful to any who are earnestly seeking the way of salvation, or to believers young in years, or young in the Christian life, I shall feel deeply thankful. It is to such that it seems ? |
