Would it make any, except those who love God, happy to be with him?

48 IN whose name did Jesus come?

Did his instructions and miracles prove that
God was with him?

How did they treat him?

Would they be likely to receive one as a leader, who should come in his own name ?

44 FROM Whom did these men seek honor? In what manner? - Matt. 6: 5.

What should they seek?

Have you known some children do even bad things, because others praised them for it? Are you sometimes unwilling to do what you know is right and pleasing to God, because you fear reproach?

Is this right?

What does Jesus say of those who are ashamed of him or of his words? - Mark 8: 38.

We cannot have the honor of both God and the world; which is best?

Do you seek it?

45 WHAT need they not think?

Who would accuse them?

Did they trust in the law of Moses?

But did they really believe the declaration of
Moses, and keep the law?

What is said of the law?-Rom. 3: 20. 46 IF they had, what would they have done? Will you repeat some things which Moses wrote about Jesus? Gen. 3: 15. 49: 10.

LESSON XIII.

The Miraculous Feeding of the Multitude.

CH. vi. 1–14.

1 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.

2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples. 4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

5 When Jesus then lift up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

6 (And this he said to prove him for he himself knew what he would do.)

7 Philip answered him, Two hundred penny-worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,

9 There is a lad here, which hath five

barley-loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. 12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley-loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

WHERE was Jesus when he healed the lame man?

On what day was it?

Who did his power prove him to be?

By whom will all the dead be raised, and the world be judged?

1 AFTER he had taught the people all these things, where did he go?

Which way from Jerusalem was this sea?

What river runs from it into the Dead Sea ?

2 DID any people follow him?

For what reason?

Did all persons who saw his miracles believe on him?-Chap. 11 : 47, 48.

3 WHERE did Jesus go?

Who came to him?

4 NEAR the time of what feast was this?

Can you tell about what time of the year the passover was?

What can you tell about the origin of this feast? 5 WERE there many people here with Jesus? What did he say to Philip when he saw them? 6 WHY did he say this?

Where have you seen Philip's name before?
Chap. 1: 43.

Did Jesus know what he would do? 7 WHAT did Philip say?

One penny was about fourteen cents of our money; how much did Philip think it would take to buy them all bread?

Had the disciples probably so much money? 8 WHO then spoke to him?

9 WHAT did he say?

How many men do you think this would satisfy?

Does it appear to you that they expected Jesus would work a miracle to feed these people? 10 THEN what did Jesus say?

What was there in that place?

How many sat down?

11 WHAT did Jesus do?

What next?

Should we always give thanks to God for supplying us with food?

When the bread was broken what did the disciples do?

Do you think Jesus miraculously increased the quantity of bread before five loaves could be distributed to five thousand people?

Whom did God supply with food in a wonderful manner, many hundred years before this? - 1 Kings 17: 4-6.

Do you recollect an instance where the provis

ion of one was increased in a wonderful manner?

Relate the circumstances.

12 DID they eat as much as they wanted? Then what did Jesus say to his disciples ? Should we always save the food that remains, after we are satisfied with eating?

13 How many baskets did they fill with what remained?

Should you not think this was much more than the five loaves?

Then did not Jesus create the bread which the people ate ?

Well, children, does he not really create every thing you eat?

You know that somebody must sow or plant, but can the earth make one grain of wheat produce a hundred ?

Then does God multiply food for men and beasts all over the world every day?

14 WHAT did those men do when they had seen this miracle? *

Whom did they mean by the prophet that
should come into the world? - Mal. 4:5.
Do you think the people here were more or
less prejudiced against Jesus, than the Jews?
Have all the children in the school as much
reason to believe on the Savior as they had ?
Will you consider through the week, in how
many ways God is doing you good?
